Trish Stratus, a WWE Hall of Famer and one of the best female stars of all time, has shared her thoughts on the WWE’s decision to introduce mid-card titles for the women’s division. As someone who has held numerous titles in her own career, Stratus believes that this move is a step in the right direction.
In an interview with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Stratus expressed her support for the new titles, stating that it’s exactly what she and her fellow female wrestlers wanted back in the day. She believes that the titles will bring a new level of competition and exposure to the women’s division, and that it will create opportunities for more characters to be developed.
Stratus also mentioned that she thinks it’s great that the women will now have matches for the titles, which will lead to multiple feuds and a influx of new characters. She believes that this will create a more dynamic and exciting women’s division, with more storylines and more engagement from the fans.
When asked if she thinks the new titles will benefit a lot of women, Stratus replied, “I think it’s amazing. This is exactly what we wanted back in the day. We wanted the same opportunities and exposure as the men. Now this is a big step to have that level of competition. Having the titles means you’re going to have matches for those titles. There is room for multiple feuds over the titles and influx of characters. It creates opportunities for more characters on the show, who happen to be female.”
Stratus’s comments come as the WWE is looking to shake things up and make the women’s division more relevant and exciting. The introduction of mid-card titles is seen as a major move in this direction, and it’s clear that Stratus is supportive of the decision.
In addition to her thoughts on the mid-card titles, Stratus also shared her thoughts on some of the current women’s wrestlers. When asked who she enjoys watching today, she mentioned Nia Jax, praising her for her great presence and ability to own the ring. Stratus even went so far as to say that she doesn’t think she could fully retire until she’s had a chance to be rag-dolled by Jax. While this may seem like an unusual comment, it speaks to Stratus’s respect for Jax and her wrestling ability.
